Valentines Day is coming (hint hint). Now begins the worst process: trying to think of what you want when asked. Do you go sweet and say you only want them? Do you go practical and ask for something utterly unromantic, like a vacuum? Do you ask for something cheap, like chocolate? Or something expensive, like a vacuum? Do you possibly just buy yourself the vacuum? I may be justifying my vacuum purchase.
Clarity about what you want or need can be so hard to come by. Estate Planning is no different--you may not even know what you need. For Valentines Day there are gift guides. And for estate planning, there are attorneys. A good estate plan, one that does what you want and need it to do, isn't cheap and possibly isn't romantic (though really, nothing says "I love you" like "I want things to be settled for you even if I'm gone"). But it's well worth it. So give the love of your life the greatest gift: peace of mind. Talk to an estate planning attorney and get a plan in place. Or, like me and my beloved vacuum, buy one for yourself. It's a gift you'll be glad you had.
