Halloween and other spooky holidays are now behind us, which means it is time for every store, ad agency, and tv channel to start pushing Christmas. As a former Hobby Lobby worker, Christmas started in about May (alledgedly so the people who sold things at craft fairs in November had time to build up their stock). But this does mean that many people overlook my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving.
in similar fashion, many people decide to get estate plans put together for post-death, but overlook planning for periods of incapacity. Very few people go straight from being perfect healthy to passed away. Anything from illness to dementia to the normal difficulties associated with age can cause difficulty in management of your resources and handling of the business of life. A proper estate plan will address not only death, but who will step in to help you when you need it, generally with powers of attorney and pre-choosing incapacity trustees. These roles assure that if you suffer an incapacitating event, someone will be in place to make sure you are cared for.
Tree Ring Legal is happy to discuss setting up a plan that prepares residents of Middle Tennessee for both incapacity and post-death. Don't overlook this important decision! Contact us for a free consultation so that you can be ready for what comes next.
